ARTIST NOTES: Sugar Gliders and Rose was a great painting to paint. I wanted something to reflect the sweetness of the times in the hardness of reality which is 2020. As I and my family are still in stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne I found myself looking at these gorgeous sugar gliders. They reminded me of my 4 children and how as a family we stick to gather no matter what and in this time of uncertainty we need to stop and enjoy the simple things...like smell the roses. That is the through behind this painting. I painted it in acrylic and wanted the deep burgundy and black back ground to add depth like a family has. The redness for love and the black for the tough times, the rose for the pure and unconditional love I have for my husband and children and how the rose is keeping the sugar gliders safe and secure. I love this painting and I know who ever ends up having it come to live with them will find pleasure in it too. The canvas is 3cm deep and only needs framing if you want to. I make sure that the painting arrives beautifully wrapped and ready to hang when you receive it. This would make a wonderful gift for your self or a special someone. Just a little some thing about Sugar Gliders, they are extremely social animals. In the wild, they live in large groups called colonies. Because of their social nature, pet gliders should always be kept in pairs or small groups. Australia’s sugar gliders can fly about 165 feet. They are common tree-dwelling marsupials and are native to tropical and cool-temperate forests in Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea

ARTIST BIO

Catherine Barolo is a self taught artist living in Melbourne, Australia.

Catherine has been drawing ever since she was little.  A quiet child who would draw for hours and hours escaping life in the 1970's suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia.

Her paintings and stories were full of fairies, goblins and all types of animals, flowers and mythical creatures she would make up from her fantasy world she loved and imagined until....life happened!

Fast forward to 2022 and Catherine is happily married with 4 almost grown children and her dog Coco.  It has only been in the last two years Catherine has found time to concentrate on her art.  Catherine is a self taught artist and has exhibited her work in Melbourne and continues to sell her original paintings, prints and commissioned art through her website.  Catherine either works off her own photos or asks photographers permission to use their photos as reference.  Catherine loves to paint in acrylic and now teaching herself to paint digitally.  Each painting is carefully thought and planned out, subject, colour and composition to tell its unique story all in as much detail as she can.

                                                                                                                                              This is just the beginning...
