ARTIST NOTES: My practice is a response to aged and weathered surfaces. Imperfect and worn patina built over time by human action and natural weathering. Building blocks are the very foundation of our urban environment. Beautiful big blocks of rock and concrete provide a fascinating landscape pitted and cracked over time. Who can resist these perfectly imperfect surfaces.

ARTIST BIO

I create expressive and abstracted landscapes which explore a connection to place, based on feelings and nostalgia.

Born in Wagga and based in Melbourne, my work is an intuitive response to an imagined place, a composite of all the landscapes that exist in my memories.

I work with acrylic and mixed media and create richly layered paintings. My process is noticing the ever-changing and fleeting details in the layers until something familiar and dreamy emerges.

Michelle holds a Diploma of Fine Art from Latrobe Street College of Art and New Media.
