Like many watercolourists Glenys has been truly 'captured' by its magical and often unexpected elements of chance. Glenys was curious to see how far she could push the boundaries and, as her work evolved, her use of watercolour has become bolder and is often used straight from the tube. Her subject-matter is broad and she continues to develop her detailed interpretations in order to meet contemporary trends.
Enhanced through the use of high quality paint and papers, her current work displays many layers of pigment, ensuring a vibrant palette of strong clean colours. Although she ensures that her premininary ideas represent good balance and design, many of her paintings are developed along the way and her work is often described as imaginative and quirky. This vigorous approach to watercolour perfectly suits her analytical mind, enabling her to underpin exciting and joyous works with strong compositon and colourful elements.
Glenys has been painting almost exclusively in watercolour and her interest in pen and ink drawing and use of 'the pen' can still be glimpsed throughout her collection She continues to enjoy experimentation with water media combinations and, as a past member of Bendigo Art Society for 14 years, she believes that learning from fellow artists is hugely beneficial and motivating.
EXHIBITIONS
Glenys has had many solo and shared gallery exhibitions throughout Victoria and has been a regular exhibitor at regional art shows. She also had a 12-page watercolour demostration published in the Australian Artist magazine in 2010. Over the years her work has been hung at a number of galleries including Heathcote Winery, Dudley House in Bendigo, the Tin Shed Gallery in Malmsbury, the Old Post Office Gallery in Seymour and has been priviledged to have had a variety of works hung at Bendigo Pottery, Epsom, Victoria over the past seven years. |
